We built up a Surly Ogre for Rey to travel for a couple years up and down the Pacific Coast and to South America with a Rohloff. Rohloffs are amazing for travel because they are virtually hassle free. Rey is on a big extended journey and we wanted to make sure the bike was ideal. We spec-ed it with White Industry Cranks, bottom bracket, cups and headset. Paul Components just came out with blue so we matched with the new blue Klampers (brake calipers) and seat collar although aesthetically we thought the black Paul components levers would be best and a polished seat post to match the cranks. Rey has a Jones Bar, Brooks leather saddle and tape. We hand laced wheels with Phil Wood Spokes with i30 WTB KOM (and Teravail Sparwood) tires to the Rohloff and a SON dynamo hub in the front for a Sinewave Reactor USB port plus SON Edelux lights front and rear. Ergon makes a swept back grip specifically for the Rohloff. Surly front and rear racks have such a terrific platform for gear that we naturally included them. Rey uses Crank Brothers flats. We totally agree. So much awesomeness in this bike.
