On Saturday after the outpost closed, Chris and Eric headed to Mount Pinos to get away from the 100 plus degree heat that trapped SoCal for a week. They went to the summit and in the best of luck the astronomers were all over the summit parking lot with telescopes for everyone to look through. It was so lucky, they are still in shock. So, for over an hour, they got to look in telescopes from the very kind people who go up there for this. They saw stars, Jupiters, galaxies, nebula and were educated on astronomy all evening. It was amazing. After the treat of the seeing the stars through telescopes, they backpacked to a spot to keep watching for the Persied Meteor that was toward the end of its viewing. In the morning, the intrepid made some coffee and oatmeal, packed up camp and went to the summit of Pinos with Rover on a hike. The 70 degree weather was ideal. Rover seemed to love every bit of it. Another goal was for a some Instagram photo that looked good and here are some of the many photos from the overnight.
