Robert and his new Surly Karate Monkey
Saturday morning ride in Topanga.
UnPredict Your Wednesday riding through Catalina Island.
Seven of us ventured to Santa Catalina Island for UnPredict Your Wednesday. We left from San Pedro on the 9 AM boat and were dropped off in Two Harbors around 11 AM. The boat dropped the lion’s share of passengers off at Avalon before we enjoyed watching the coastline.
After joining the Santa Monica Conservancy for $35 each, we packed our gear on bikes and headed through the Island. It was absolutely amazing. The hills brought us breathtaking views all day. We stopped to swim in the middle of the ride and had an extraordinary time. Because we arrived later than expected in Avalon at the campsite, some of us went for pizza and beer, the others made food at camp. We ended the evening with s’mores and a couple more beers at the campsite. (One guy’s wife met him in Avalon and we didn’t ask).
After a great night sleep under the stars, we hopped on the 8 AM boat back to the mainland were even able to get to the shop by 11.
Add this trip to your bucket list. You will love it.
Thane brought his swimming goggles and did some swimming and took some terrific photos.
